History

Established in 2001, the Vipassana Montana Steering Committee’ original mission was to act as an umbrella organization for other Vipassana groups in the state. The committee’s main activities included primarily statewide planning for a summer retreat with community building as a secondary goal with whatever resources were left.  In 2008 a declining interest and attendance is a statewide retreat, the Steering Committee opted to forego planning for another retreat. Instead energy and resources are now devoted to maintaining a web presence to address community building.
